Our Approach
What to expect?
You can expect multiple visits to Arbor Mountain, these are necessary in order to assess your needs and design a test battery, conduct the testing, and finally, to give you your report and feedback.
Note: this process is different for certain forensic and family court evaluations, as well as some pediatric evaluations.
First Visit: Assess Your Circumstances
Prior to your first visit, you will receive some paperwork to fill out that will allow Dr. Vasquez to begin to design a test battery that is specific to your needs and diagnostic questions. During your first visit, she will conduct a diagnostic interview and finalize the battery.
Second Visit: Conduct Testing
The testing battery will be given on the second visit. After this, the data will be scored and a diagnostic report will be written.
Third Visit: Feedback Session
The third visit will consist of explaining the results in detail, and answering any questions you may have. Dr. Vasquez may also offer recommendations or helpful resources.
Is assessment really confidential?
As a general rule, all assessment sessions are confidential and anything you discuss with your doctor will remain between the two of you, unless you request otherwise. You might want your doctor to share information, for example, with another medical provider. You would need to authorize this in writing for us to be allowed to speak with another doctor. This is required by law and no information from your sessions can be disclosed without that prior written consent from the client.
There are a few exceptions to this rule, however. For example, your doctor is a mandated reporter and must disclose information from a session to legal authorities or appointed persons if any of the following are true:

- The psychologist suspects abuse to a child, dependent adult, or an elder, or are made aware of such domestic abuse. These situations all require the psychologist to notify law authorities immediately.
- If the psychologist suspects an individual has caused or is threatening to cause imminent and severe bodily harm to another person, they are required to report it to the police.
- If an individual intends to harm himself or herself, expressing to the psychologist for example, plans and means for suicide. While the psychologist will attempt to work through this in the therapy session, if it appears to be unresolved or the client does not cooperate, additional action may need to be taken to ensure the safety of the client.
