Working with Veterans:
Getting support when you need it the most

It is not easy to heal when you are being faced with decisions that you regret or you are being judged by the worst choice you have ever made. Let us work with you so that you can regain your footing and grow into the person that you aspire to be.

Neuropsychological Assessments

A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive and behavioral functions conducted by a neuropsychologist. It involves a series of standardized tests and tasks designed to assess various aspects of brain function, such as memory, attention, language, executive functions, and visuospatial skills. This evaluation is often used to diagnose and characterize cognitive deficits or changes associated with neurological conditions or injuries, such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases (like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's), epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. It helps clinicians understand the nature and extent of cognitive impairment, guide treatment planning, monitor progression, and provide recommendations for rehabilitation or interventions to optimize functioning and quality of life.

Veteran Disability Benefits Questionnaire

A Veteran Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) is a standardized form used by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to gather medical evidence for disability claims. These questionnaires are completed by private healthcare providers or VA examiners who evaluate veterans for service-connected disabilities. The DBQs are designed to streamline the disability claims process by providing specific questions related to the veteran's medical condition(s) and functional limitations. There are different DBQs for various medical conditions, covering a wide range of physical and mental health issues commonly seen among veterans, such as musculoskeletal conditions, mental health needs, traumatic brain injury, respiratory conditions, and more.

Each DBQ contains questions regarding the veteran's medical history, symptoms, physical examination findings, diagnostic test results, and functional impairment. The examiner fills out the questionnaire based on their evaluation of the veteran's condition, providing detailed information that can help the VA determine the severity of the disability and its relationship to military service.

Using DBQs can expedite the claims process by ensuring that all relevant medical evidence is documented and submitted with the claim. Additionally, they provide consistency in the evaluation process by providing a standardized format for gathering information across different medical providers and examiners.
It's important to note that while completion of a DBQ can provide valuable medical evidence for a disability claim, it does not guarantee approval of benefits. The VA considers multiple factors when adjudicating disability claims, including the severity of the condition, its impact on the veteran's ability to function, and the evidence provided in support of the claim.

Supportive Services Evaluation

A Supportive Services Evaluation is conducted to assess the individual needs of veterans, aiding in rehabilitation planning, identification of benefits and services, care coordination, goal setting, and advocacy. It helps identify areas where veterans may require assistance or support, such as healthcare, vocational rehabilitation, mental health counseling, housing assistance, or caregiver support programs, and facilitates collaboration among healthcare providers, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care. By establishing realistic goals for rehabilitation and recovery, this evaluation empowers veterans to actively participate in decisions regarding their care and enhances their well-being and quality of life post-military service.
